General Summary The Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement has responsibility in planning, organizing, and executing the University's constituency campaigns and major gifts program and is the primary tactical, administrative, and management officer for the Vice President.

This role focuses on advancing the institution's mission, enhancing its reputation, and securing financial support through fundraising, alumni engagement, corporate and foundation giving, and external relations.

The Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement plays a critical role in advancing the institution's mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities Fundraising Leadership
Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet annual and long-term financial goals.
Cultivate relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and other potential funding sources.
Oversee major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns.
Alumni and Friends' Engagement
Foster strong relationships with alumni, friends, and supporters.
Organize alumni events, reunions, and networking opportunities.
Encourage alumni participation in fundraising efforts and volunteer activities.
External Relations
Represent the institution in the community, at conferences, and with external partners.
Enhance the institution's visibility and impact through strategic partnerships.
Collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
Corporate and Foundation Relations
Secure funding from external sources for gifts over $10K from corporations and foundations
Profiles corporations and foundations for prospecting calls and meetings
Research and compile pertinent demographic and statistical information for grant proposals. Identify high, medium, and lower potential contributors for solicitation; set appropriate targets and design plans for implementation.
Assess the marketplace and competition for contributions.
Strategic Planning and Reporting
Contribute to the development and implementation of the institutional strategic plan.
Monitor progress toward advancement goals and provide regular reports to senior leadership.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards related to advancement.
Campaign Management
Assist in the development of comprehensive fundraising campaigns (e.g., capital campaigns, endowment drives).
Assist in setting campaign goals, engagement of volunteers, and tracking progress.
Align campaign priorities with institutional needs.
Team Leadership and Development
Manage and mentor advancement staff, including development officers, alumni relations professionals, and communications specialists.
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Donor Stewardship and Recognition
Ensure proper stewardship of donors, acknowledging their contributions and demonstrating impact.
Develop recognition programs and naming opportunities for major donors.
Budget Oversight
Work closely with the finance department to manage advancement budgets.
Allocate resources effectively to achieve fundraising goals.
Ethics and Compliance
Uphold the highest ethical standards in fundraising, donor relations, and institutional representation.
Ensure compliance with legal and industry standards.
Institutional Advocacy
Advocate for the institution's mission, values, and impact.
Articulate the case for support to various audiences.
Database Management
Manage the CRM database and implement giving reports, segmentation, and tracking of gifts
Provide critical database solutions to meet fundraising goals to make informed business decisions.
Manage data to increase operational efficiency, reduce compliance risks, and streamline internal processes.

Qualifications Required Education:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. A master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, nonprofit management, higher education administration) is preferred.

Required Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education fundraising or non-profit organizations or a related post where the central focus on fundraising, communications, and leadership skills have been utilized.

7 or more years of significant experience in fundraising, development, or advancement work is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
