Harbor Oaks Hospital, a renowned Mental Health Treatment Center in New Baltimore, MI, is currently seeking a Patient Advocate. This role is non-exempt and follows a Monday to Friday day shift schedule.

Responsibilities



PURPOSE STATEMENT:



As a Patient Advocate, you will play a crucial role in supporting patient rights efforts. This includes educating patients and families, managing complaint/grievance processes, and escalating any unresolved threats to patient safety.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitate the patient/family grievance process
  • Collaborate with staff to resolve complaints effectively
  • Identify areas for improvement in processes related to patient rights and safety
  • Keep accurate logs of complaints and grievances
  • Work with the risk department and managers to address patient concerns promptly
  • Participate in educating staff on patient safety during orientation
  • Communicate customer service needs to supervisors and medical staff

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Preferably an Associate or Bachelor's degree in a clinical field
  • Previous experience in customer service or risk management is advantageous
  • Experience working with behavioral health patients is a plus

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training provided)
  • First aid certification may be necessary depending on state or facility requirements
