We are seeking a credentialed actuary for the SVP, Head of Pricing, North America Region to be based out of our New York, NY office.

This role has broad responsibility for providing overall management and direction for the strategic and operational integration of actuarial pricing into product line(s) and segment(s) across North America.

This role will directly report into and work closely with the Chief Underwriting Officer and will develop and oversee pricing strategies, collaborating with underwriting and product management teams, and ensure the effective use of actuarial models to support business goals.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in actuarial science, excellent leadership skills and a strategic mindset to drive profitable growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Establish standards regarding rate/pricing structures, analyses, and deployment that affect products.

Develop and implement comprehensive pricing strategies with the objective to significantly impact the short-term and long-term success of underwriting, spanning all commercial product line(s) or segment(s)


Design, develop and oversee strategic portfolio level indications integrating state of the art processes, advanced analytics, exceptional quality and visually effective communication.


Support analytical aspects of commercial-wide reinsurance program placements including submission data preparation, profitability analyses, volatility analyses and internal cost allocation.


Works closely and collaboratively to design and execute effective deployment of actuarial pricing analyses with an emphasis on streamlined integration into operational work streams, fully compliant outcomes, and exceptional quality.

Develop and maintain consistent implementation techniques across lines of business to create a more efficiently maintained infrastructure supporting the underwriting process.

Oversees rate filing development and support working with Line of Business teams ensuring full compliance across all commercial products.

Provides oversight and develops a pricing environment to support an increased frequency of rate reviews to maintain pricing adequacy.

Oversees and delivers annual Planning support.


Leads, directs and has full management accountability for staff in areas of responsibility with an emphasis on talent management and succession planning in accordance with corporate strategic direction.

Identifies and responds to emerging issues in the insurance, regulatory or legal climates. Partners with appropriate leadership to determine courses of action and develops and executes plans to meet objectives. Provides actuarial support during business strategy planning process.

Fosters innovation and empowers others to take calculated risks and continuously improve skills, efficiency and quality of work.


Creates a culture of ownership and accountability to drive continuous improvement coupled with an active pursuit in support of a diverse and inclusive environment.

May participate in industry trade groups and represent the company at industry meetings.


Collaborates with business partners in Claims, Underwriting, Finance and other internal departments to ensure the achievement of continued profitability and/or growth objectives through actuarial pricing for product line(s) or segment(s).

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities


Mastery of actuarial science and pricing and understanding of critical issues in related areas and expertise in multiple lines of business.


Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships), team and/or matrix environment.

Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.

Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.

Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science or related field required. Master's Degree in related field preferred.

Actuarial Fellowship is preferred

Typically a minimum of 15 years of related work experience with 7 years of management.
