Buyer


will be an integral part of our supply chain team, responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and/or services to support our fleet management operations.

Your expertise in negotiating and building strong relationships with suppliers will ensure the availability of quality products while optimizing costs.

This position has a competitive compensation package that is a combination of hourly base pay plus profit sharing paid quarterly after 1 year of employment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage one or more small / mid-sized product categories.

Initially, this will include Trailers and Mechanics/Crane Trucks
Work with the Sr.

Buyers and Director of Supply Chain to facilitate the negotiation of contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Create an annual purchase budget/plan.
Monitor supplier performance and conduct supplier evaluations to maintain a high standard of quality and service.
Resolve supplier-related issues and manage disputes to ensure smooth operations and supplier relationships.
Stay informed about industry trends and changes in the market that may impact procurement strategies.
Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and products that meet PTR's quality standards and operational requirements.
Collaborate with internal teams to understand procurement needs and develop comprehensive purchase plans.

Partner with internal partners to track inventory levels and initiate purchase orders, stock transfers, or sell/scrap requests to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent stock-outs.

Perform quality inspections and create quality orders and check-outs for new mechanics/crane trucks
Create process documentation, including but not limited to process maps, work instructions, and decision trees.
Implement cost-saving initiatives and seek opportunities to improve procurement processes.
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, regulations, and ethical standards.
Any other reasonable duties that may arise during the course of employment

REQUIREMENTS

MUST HAVE
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role within the Supply Chain domain.
Solid negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Demonstrated base knowledge of analytics, and problem-solving.

Microsoft Suite, including Excel – should be at least familiar and comfortable with formulas, importing data, and using pivot tables.

Proficient in using procurement software and tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Ability to travel safely in a crowded equipment yard for the purposes of inspecting trailers and trucks.
