Purchasing Manager Job Description

EPCO Products, Inc. is seeking a skilled Purchasing Manager to join our team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the administrative functions of material purchasing, ensuring timely supply of goods and services, and collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and direct all Purchasing Department functions, including acquisition of goods and services.
  • Prepare and evaluate requests for purchase of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Establish, implement, and review policies and procedures, including training internal staff on EPCO's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Program.
  • Provide cost and vendor analysis for goods and services, and oversee expediting procedures.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve supplier delinquencies, and develop new sources of supply and service.
  • Provide supplier documentation and justification for purchases, and operate, train, and monitor computerized purchasing programs.
  • Direct and verify cycle counts, inventory control, and scheduled inventories, and work within the existing Kan Ban/Pull Method of Manufacturing techniques to ensure proper inventory levels and elimination of obsolete items.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor Buyer performance metrics, including inventory turns, material cost history, material availability, and vendor quality issues.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Critical thinking and organizational skills, with attention to detail and a focus on high-quality service and product.
  • Experience operating within an ISO Registered Program, preferably EPCO's ISO 9001:2015 program.
  • Experience with computer purchasing/inventory systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Solid understanding of the Pull Method of Manufacturing (Kanban), and ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with a positive, results-oriented approach.

Additionally, EPCO participates in a Gainsharing Bonus plan, offering opportunities to earn unlimited percentage gainsharing bonus every four weeks.
