Work as a Business Service Representative in the Employment Services Department located at 24 Greenway Plaza, 18floor, Houston, TX under the direction of the Office Manager.


The Business Service Representative, WDS II-III (Workforce Development Specialist) performs routine to complex (journey-level) employment work.

Work involves conducting interviews to assess client needs, disseminating information and facilitating access to workforce development programs, and providing employment counseling services.

Works under moderate to general supervision with limited to moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.



YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:


  • Assist employers in establishing accounts, using the job matching system ) and amending job posting information.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employers to meet their employment needs and expectations by utilizing excellent customer service skills, and maintaining a caring and professional attitude at all times.
  • Enter job postings in WorklnTexas within established timeframes.
  • Enter job postings in WorklnTexas in accordance with established Federal, State and Board quality standards and requirements.
  • Ensure job postings created are clear and concise in order to attract qualified candidates.
  • Complete and maintain accurate information within internal and external Workforce systems, and job posting reports when documenting assistance provided and outreach made to employers.
  • Provide other services to employers such as labor market information, technical assistance using , information on additional services from Workforce Solutions, Federal and State employment laws and regulations and information on public tax incentives or credits for employers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:


  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office, desktop applications and Internet/webbased systems; able to learn new software.
  • Customer service and presentation skills and experience.
  • Interviewing and job placement experience.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (written and verbal communication).
  • Good overall written and verbal communication skills.
Writing sample or demonstration of presentation skills may be requested at interview.



YOU QUALIFY WITH:


- WDS II: Two years and six months of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing or counseling; the instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; direct social work; eligibility determination; or in workforce development issues and programs and customer service.

OR
- WDS III: Three year of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing or counseling; instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; direct social work; eligibility determination; customer service; or workforce development issues and programs.

- Both Levels: Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.
