Job Title: Eligibility Specialist 2 - Electronic Application Counselor

  • Conduct intake interviews with individuals/families for various assistance programs.
  • Provide counseling to establish eligibility for health coverage, cash assistance, and SNAP.
  • Review and complete electronic applications for enrollment in different programs.
  • Assist clients with application process and enrollment following guidelines.
  • Identify clients in need of emergency cash assistance and make necessary referrals.
  • Update client information to ensure continuity of care and benefits.
  • Prepare daily activity logs and consult with supervisor when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Completion of 60 college credits or high school diploma with relevant work experience.
  2. Experience in public assistance, customer service, or social services.

This position is available for candidates eligible for the 55-a Program. Indicate interest in cover letter/resume.

City employees may qualify for federal loan forgiveness programs. More details on the U.S. Department of Education's website.

Residency Requirement:

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. Exceptions may apply for certain employees after 2 years of service.
