Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Addictions Counselor Assistant to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of an Addiction Counselor, performing duties related to the care and counseling of clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Monitor the safety and security of the facility and its patients, maintaining a positive and healthy milieu.
  • Assist with patient transportation, room searches, and urine toxicology collection.
  • Prepare room and client supplies for new admissions.
  • Conduct routine rounds and document observations.
  • Complete required client and facility documentation.
  • Participate in meal preparation and distribution.
  • Communicate shift change information to facilitate smooth transitions.
  • May complete insurance calls and documentation regarding coordination of care.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have two years of experience in a treatment setting, with one year requiring the application of communication skills and one year in a direct treatment capacity. Alternatively, an associate's degree in a human services field or current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)-Trainee or CASAC-Provisional in New York State is required.

Candidates must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in termination of employment.
