The Senior Director will be responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the Technical Studies Program, ensure quality control, address staffing questions, measure continuous improvement efforts, maximize technology resources, provide structured reports, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, oversee the budget and perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned. The Senior Director will analyze information and make recommendations to enhance current policies, processes, and offerings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Operational Responsibilities—60%

  • Oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for recruiting and retaining personnel, students and clients
  • Ensures the effective delivery of services to students/leaners
  • Ensures the preparation and maintenance of appropriate reports and records as required by County, State, and Federal authorities
  • Identifies and implements a comprehensive grants administration program in support of the overall goals
  • Responsible for the oversite of all accredited training and annual audits
  • Management of budgets
  • Manage and contribute to program assessment needs
  • Assists with marketing materials, website information, and brochures
  • Handles and oversees student, learner, parent, client, conflicts as necessary

Community Engagement—30%

  • Works with local industry to provide training and strategic partnerships
  • Coordinates with industry to provide materials and trading to enhance instruction and labs
  • Outreach with schools
  • Serves with local workforce initiatives

Training, Supervision, and Evaluation of staff—10%

  • Supervise, coach, and train the Technical Studies team
  • NCCER Master Trainer Certification Offers instructor training
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for the evaluation and mentoring of a 10-month faculty member, Assistant Director of Technical Studies, and other staff as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSMinimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Commitment to the mission of Liberty University
  • At least 4 years’ experience in student services
  • Skill in program planning and implementation
  • Demonstrated understanding of academia to achieve results across units/divisions and functions
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision, including management practices and principles
  • Strategic planning, budget preparation and management skills.
  • Ability to apply crisis management interventions and facilitate procedures for distressed students; establish, direct and enforce policies and regulations, and resolve student, parent, or department complaints and concerns
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office suite products.
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written; delegate responsibilities effectively
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view; persuasive with details and supportive data
  • NCCER Certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in Higher Education, Business, or equivalent experience
  • OSHA Certification
