Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of CSU Director. This position requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of the juvenile justice system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Court Service Unit (CSU) team
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the CSU, including personnel management and budgeting
  • Develop and implement effective programs and services to support the juvenile justice system
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders, community partners, and the judiciary to achieve common goals
  • Ensure compliance with departmental, state, local, and judicial requirements
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of federal, state, local, and public laws and ordinances relating to criminal justice
  • Considerable experience managing or supervising a unit or multiple employees, including personnel management and leading organizational goals and practices
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively and establishing collaborative relationships with all levels of staff, partner agencies, and community stakeholders
  • Experience overseeing the administration and evaluation of criminal justice practices and program needs
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices within criminal justice programming
  • Knowledge of budgeting and procurement practices
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Progressive supervisory experience in a juvenile court service unit setting
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience utilizing automated case management systems
