Purpose of Position

Under the supervision of the Department of Indigenous Health’s Principal Investigator (PI), this position provides program and budget management, planning, academic coordination, administrative support, development of program activities and engagement of UND faculty. This position will also work with the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) to develop and provide assessment of proposed implementation activities, coordinate a marketing plan, and engagement of Tribal College and Universities (TCU) faculty and TCU students. Facilitate enrollment of TCU faculty into UND’s Public Health Graduate Certificates. Serve as a TCU, Tribal government and program liaison. Lead, manage and administer UND NARCH-BIRCH activity related assessments. Work with PI, faculty and staff to meet UND faculty and student implementation activities. This position is also responsible for Co-planning, attending, and scheduling all meetings for TCU Faculty, UND Faculty & staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

Management, coordination, creation, and maintenance of the BIRCH Program as defined by the BIRCH grant.

  • Provide program and budget management, planning, academic coordination, administrative support, development of program implementation activities and engagement of UND faculty.
  • Work with PI, faculty and staff to meet UND faculty and student implementation activities.
  • Co-plan, implement and oversee the coordination of primary meetings between TCU and UND staff and Faculty.
  • Assist and maintain supporting documents needed to implement programs goals and objectives.
  • Analyze and report on the program including surveying all participants and including that information in the report.
  • Write detailed report for PI on quarterly basis and after full analysis of the program.
  • Participate in the development and expansion beyond the scope of the BIRCH Program.

Tribal Colleges, and Universities & Tribal Government/Program Liaison

  • Assist Tribal leaders or tribal program coordinators including TCU faculty and staff in orchestrating any BIRCH objectives.
  • Support the functions of the meetings with TCU’s and other Tribal community entities including regular BIRCH meetings.
  • Maintain UND project team meeting minutes, assist leadership in development and distribution of agendas or information pertinent to meetings.
  • Create and distribute promotional materials.
  • Coordinate marketing of the project
  • Lead, manage and administer UND NARCH-BIRCH activity related assessments.
  • Manage any website or technical questions regarding BIRCH’s goals and objectives.
Required Competencies
  • Science or health related field including but not limited to public health.
  • Knowledge of traditional Native American Culture, secondary, and post-secondary educational programming.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or related degree.
  • Three years of public health experience.
  • Two years of experience working with American Indian/Indigenous programs.
  • Two years’ experience coordinating grant funded projects.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

  • Evidence of familiarity with university financial and grant policies and procedures.
  • Experience with Tribal Government and TCU engagement.
