Job Overview: The Competitive Grant and Sponsorship Coordinator will oversee the planning, direction, and administration of various grants within the Grand Forks Public School District. This role encompasses pre-award grant writing, coordination of grant applications in collaboration with district administration and business office personnel, as well as post-award support for staff managing grant-funded initiatives and ensuring compliance. Additionally, this position is tasked with executing fund development strategies aimed at achieving financial objectives to support the operational budget, with a focus on expanding major grants and fostering foundation support. The Coordinator will work in partnership with district leadership, school administration, the business office, and the Grand Forks Foundation for Education & Alumni Network to identify and cultivate funding opportunities that align with the mission and vision of the district.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with district departments and staff to understand strategic initiatives, programs, and objectives, identifying challenges where external funding may be available.
  • Manage funding and compliance for various federal, state, and other grants (excluding federal formula grants).
  • Establish and maintain a sponsorship base within the Grand Forks community and surrounding areas, adhering to district sponsorship policies and strategies.
  • Work together to formulate a long-term sponsorship strategy that aligns with district educational objectives.
  • Disseminate grants and sponsorship information throughout the district.
  • Facilitate professional development programs for grant staff in response to evolving regulations and needs.
  • Coordinate with district leadership to allocate grant and sponsorship funds effectively.
  • Communicate the goals, objectives, and applications of federal and state grant programs, as well as sponsorships, to the entire school community.
  • Participate in system-wide curriculum groups to ensure alignment and understanding of granting and sponsorship goals.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology teams to monitor student success metrics to inform grant and sponsorship strategies.
  • Research and recommend funding opportunities from diverse sources that align with district needs.
  • Responsible for drafting grant and sponsorship proposals, completing application materials, ensuring timely submissions, and coordinating follow-ups.
  • Stay informed on new and proposed grant regulations, changes, processes, and laws to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain community relationships to develop sponsorship opportunities.
  • Implement sound practices to manage and direct grant administration functions to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues, federal and state agencies, and public organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: The employee is frequently required to sit, with occasional walking and standing. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, along with the ability to maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception necessary for successful performance.

Terms of Employment: Full-time position with a standard workweek, including occasional evening hours.

Evaluation: Annual written evaluation by the Superintendent.
