Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Job Summary:

In this role, you will be working close with the EPC/Construction lead supporting automation efforts for complex projects, using database management, programming skills, and 3D tools. You will support in administering the portfolio of construction automation applications on the jobsite and data requirements. You will review performance and recommend adjustments to tailor solutions to support strategy and compliance. The construction and commissioning automation specialist will also be interfacing with the commissioning team as the lifecycle of the project progresses through the various gates of the project. The candidate will be flexible through the daily tasks from supporting engineering, Construction and commissioning initiatives supporting an array of tools including managing the model generation, supporting PowerApps, the BSAP suite off tools such as TW, Q4 and the BPS tools, reporting and other innovative initiatives that may present itself through the course of the project. #LI-SM2

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • On small to medium projects or GBU with higher complexity, leads Construction Automation efforts utilizing cross functional coordination, database management, programming skills, and 3D tools, and demonstrates ability to tailor solutions in support of Business Line/GBU/Enterprise strategy​ 
  • Considered an expert in Construction Automation with indirect leadership responsibilities​ 
  • Establishes and administers the portfolio of Construction Automation applications on the jobsite​ 
  • Establishes data requirements for the construction automation tools in accordance with the project automation plan, designing/developing workflows, forms, and templates for automation tools​ 
  • Supports administration and maintains roles, responsibilities and configuration for all construction software applications, both backend and UI as well as ongoing user administration. 
  • Supports coordination with project teams to ensure implementation of Project Automation Plan, Project Information and Innovation Plan including all EPC automation integrations as well as external systems. 
  • Supports the project, construction and commissioning groups, providing advice and counsel on software application and design features to the Construction Automation Lead for review. 
  • Coordinates with EPC Digital Delivery team to ensure construction applications comply with Construction work-processes and procedures​ 
  • Assists with preparation of software development, maintenance, testing and deployment plans​ 
  • Work closely with the functional teams to understand life-cycle information requirements (both graphical and non-graphical) and align the Information Management Plan to meet those needs  
  • Coordinates and collects data to support preparation of estimates for software development, maintenance and deployment​ 
  • Provides technical and administrative direction to assigned development and support team​ 
  • Trouble shoot and problem solve technical issues as they present themselves
  • Liaise with client stakeholders to exchange and ensure information requirements are met  
  • Provide input into the design requirements including the level of detail and data attributes required to support the required outputs through the phases of the Project  
  • Prepares and maintains application documentation and User Acceptance Test (UAT) plans​ 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 10-13 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding and familiarization of the BSAP Suite
  • previous experience and knowledge around Commissioning
  • Possess strong ability to quickly understand, anticipate, and translate Construction Personnel (Professional Staff and Craft Professionals) needs into Automation solutions (APIs, Web applications, Console Applications, Ad hoc Solutions, Reports etc.)
  • Possess sound understanding of database structure, management, and reporting.
  • Possess sound understanding of various programming languages (Python, C#, etc.).
  • Possess ability to Extract, Transform, and Load data (ETL) across BSAPs.
  • In depth knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and SharePoint Online) 
  • Experience in Engineering related applications like SmartPlant 3D, SmartPlant Foundation, SmartPlant P&D, SmartPlant Instrumentation. 
  • Experience with 4D implementation and Autodesk modeling tools and visualization is desirable 
  • Knowledge of Datacentric concepts and applications 
  • Experience in data management for handover to client 
  • Experience with turnover processes 
  • Familiarity with Oracle, Access databases and SharePoint Online 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Adapters and APIs for data integration with other applications Eg. S3D, Aconex, SPPID, Revit, etc. 
  • Prior Bechtel experience as a Super User of similar Construction type systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain new work processes and technologies to all levels of the organization  
  • Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority  
  • Willingness to learn and apply effective skills in support of other project automation initiatives (DSC, Power Apps, Power Automate, Drones/GIS, etc). 
  • Consistently seeks out unsolicited feedback from customers and end users for improvements 
  • Willingness to cross train, learn new applications and take on new application support 
  • Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities 
  • Good understanding of configuration management and application integration requirements to enable cross-functional data integration  
  • Technical degree, certification or equal experience preferred.
  • 8+ years industry experience in industrial projects is preferred.
