Duties Description: The Information Technology Services (ITS) department seeks a Cloud Infrastructure Automation Specialist to enhance the operational capabilities of our institution.

The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen and curiosity to construct intricate environments tailored to various academic and research disciplines.

They will demonstrate strong analytical abilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving, continuously seeking knowledge to develop an infrastructure that meets the demands of a public research institution.


As a vital member of the IT team, the Cloud Infrastructure Automation Specialist will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of application and infrastructure systems, ensuring secure and reliable solutions.

This role requires proficiency in both physical and virtual environments, as well as on-premises and cloud-based applications.



Primary Responsibilities:


Oversee daily operations for assigned AI/ML platforms, including patching, upgrades, configuration management, system backups, continuous monitoring, and performance optimization.


Design and deploy automated solutions for hardware and software infrastructure.

Automate the deployment, scaling, and monitoring of applications and services, while managing automated workflow tools, middleware application servers, and virtualization technologies.

Create and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) scripts utilizing tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
Collaborate with software development and operations teams to establish continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Administer and maintain virtual and cloud-based infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.
Monitor and enhance system performance and availability.
Uphold security standards in line with industry best practices and organizational policies. Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard data and systems.
Participate in incident response and disaster recovery planning and testing.
Assess and recommend innovative technologies and tools to enhance the efficiency and reliability of our infrastructure.

Manage host environments to ensure optimal performance and adequate capacity.

Engage in the design and development of solutions that adhere to architectural standards, industry best practices, and operational requirements.

Contribute to the creation of architectural blueprints, templates, tools, systems standards, technical roadmaps, and operational procedures.
Plan, design, implement, and support a diverse range of cloud automation tools and services.
Maintain expertise by staying updated with industry trends and pursuing professional development opportunities.

Additional Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively and proactively with colleagues and management.

Be available for scheduled support and consultation outside regular business hours, including occasional evenings, holidays, or weekends, as necessary.
