The Construction and Commissioning Automation Specialist will collaborate closely with the EPC/Construction lead to enhance automation strategies for intricate projects. This role involves leveraging database management, programming expertise, and advanced 3D tools. You will be responsible for managing the suite of construction automation applications on-site and ensuring data compliance. The specialist will also engage with the commissioning team as the project advances through its various phases. Flexibility in daily tasks is essential, as you will support engineering, construction, and commissioning initiatives while utilizing a variety of tools, including model generation management, PowerApps, and the BSAP tool suite, among others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead construction automation initiatives on small to medium projects or GBU with increased complexity, demonstrating cross-functional coordination and programming capabilities.
  • Serve as a recognized authority in construction automation with indirect leadership duties.
  • Establish and manage the portfolio of construction automation applications on-site.
  • Define data requirements for automation tools in line with the project automation strategy, designing workflows, forms, and templates.
  • Oversee the administration and configuration of all construction software applications, ensuring user management and support.
  • Coordinate with project teams to implement the Project Automation Plan and ensure integration with EPC automation and external systems.
  • Advise construction and commissioning teams on software application features and design, providing insights to the Construction Automation Lead.
  • Collaborate with the EPC Digital Delivery team to ensure compliance of construction applications with established work processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of software development, maintenance, testing, and deployment plans.
  • Work with functional teams to understand lifecycle information requirements and align the Information Management Plan accordingly.
  • Collect and analyze data to support software development estimates.
  • Provide technical and administrative guidance to the development and support team.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Engage with client stakeholders to ensure information requirements are fulfilled.
  • Contribute to design requirements, including detail levels and data attributes necessary for project outputs.
  • Prepare and maintain application documentation and User Acceptance Test (UAT) plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 10-13 years of relevant work experience.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of the BSAP Suite.
  • Experience in commissioning processes.
  • Ability to translate the needs of construction personnel into effective automation solutions.
  • Strong understanding of database management and reporting.
  • Proficiency in various programming languages (e.g., Python, C#).
  • Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) across BSAPs.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, SharePoint Online).
  • Experience with engineering applications such as SmartPlant 3D and related tools.
  • Knowledge of data management for client handover processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to convey new processes and technologies effectively.
  • Self-motivated with leadership capabilities and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Willingness to learn and support other project automation initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving responsibilities.
  • Understanding of configuration management and application integration requirements.
  • Technical degree or certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of industry experience in industrial projects is preferred.
