IRC in Richmondâs Health Program seeks to address clientsâ immediate health needs, while supporting their long-term independence and access to preventive care, primary care, and any needed specialty care. The Health Program Coordinator works closely with members of the IRC in Richmondâs multidisciplinary team and cultivates strong working relationships with a wide range of community partners including contracted refugee health screening providers, other health providers and the IRC. The Health Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that IRC clients complete mandatory screenings, have appropriate access to health services, and understand the benefits for which they are eligible. 
Major responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
Client Services⢠Facilitate communication between state and local health departments, medical providers, and resettlement agency staff to support provision of needed services for newly arrived refugees and those with serious health conditions.⢠Oversee delivery of health-related orientation information to newly arrived refugees and provide written and visual information on health topics to refugees as needed.⢠Coordinate education for refugees on medical insurance plans (Medicaid, CHP+) or referrals to the health insurance marketplace as appropriate.  â¢ Ensure eligible families are connected to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).⢠Monitor program services and adapt as needed to promote gender equity.
Provider Relations⢠Provide training for community health service providers on the special cultural and linguistic needs of refugees, and providersâ obligations to respond to those needs.⢠Maintain an up-to-date list of community health resources and conduct outreach to potential new providers as needed to ensure adequate support for clients.⢠Work collaboratively with providers, refugee medical screening partners, and State Refugee Health Coordinator to troubleshoot barriers and problems that inhibit refugeesâ access to needed services and related systems. 
Contract Compliance and Documentation⢠Ensure that program services are provided in accordance with quality assurance standards of the IRC and accrediting organizations as applicable, and compliant with HIPAA, all contractual obligations, and guidance provided by state and federal agencies.⢠Oversee compliance in documentation maintained in case files and data captured to meet reporting requirements, conducting regular and timely quality assurance of both hard-copy and electronic case files per best practice standards. â¢ Apprise the State Refugee Health Coordinator of any refugees diagnosed with diseases of public health importance and ensure timely reporting of any anomalies.⢠Participate in monthly and ad hoc conference calls or meetings facilitated by the State Refugee Health Coordinator, Virginia Office of New Americans, local Health Departments, and/or other state and local partners.
Team Leadership⢠Provide leadership, development support, and supervision to health team staff by leading team meetings; providing individual supervision, coaching and goal setting; managing workload and prioritizing tasks; and helping staff troubleshoot challenges. Provide clear communications, expectations, and support two-way feedback loop with program staff.⢠With support from HR, recruit, train and coach staff, including working collaboratively with program personnel to help them set, pursue and achieve goals and objectives for performance and professional development. â¢ Participate in all program meetings, staff development activities, and other duties as assigned.⢠Comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency, placing importance on client confidentiality. 
Job requirements:  â¢ Bachelorâs degree in social work, public health, or a related field of study preferred; may be substituted with equivalent number of years of relevant work or lived experience.   â¢ Prior experience supervising, supporting, and training staff strongly preferred. â¢ Three or more years of progressive experience in refugee resettlement, work with immigrants or underserved populations, or other human services field. â¢ Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRCâs core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRCâs work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives. â¢ Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.⢠Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability in a language spoken by the local refugee population is preferred.⢠Working knowledge of Medicaid and HIPAA preferred. â¢ Understanding of and commitment to high standards in client confidentiality.⢠Excellent verbal and written communication skills. â¢ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).⢠A valid driverâs license and access to a reliable vehicle with current insurance are required.
Working environment:⢠A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and combined plus time in the field at clinics.⢠Travel in and around the service delivery area to accompany clients, provide care coordination and collaborate with colleague service providers. â¢ May require occasional weekend and / or evening work.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
