The SwimRVA Programs Sr Coordinator is the daily. On-deck, leader of SwimRVA programs. Our service delivery is designed to change lives through aquatics and strengthen the RVA community. The Sr. Coordinator is the on-deck decision maker, motivator and supervisor of the program operations. The Sr. Coordinator works to make every day's activities positive, healthy, efficient and a great experience for both the staff and participants. The Sr. Coordinator thinks ahead and delegates to their team tasks to increase efficiency and inspire an upbeat environment. The Sr. Coordinator is a collaborator with other department shift leadership and works together in all operations of the aquatics center to ensure the best customer experience possible. The Sr. Coordinator manages the daily training activities of new staff members to efficiently advance their skills for long-term employment success. The Sr. Coordinator is critical and responsible for the relationship building of each participant and their caregivers which strengthens our relationship with the community.

SwimRVA is a metrics-based, programmatic entity that holds all employees to established goals and metrics for the organization. This position will require non-traditional hours to include evenings, early mornings and weekends. As a growth-based organization we will be expected to rely on each other to accomplish targets in alignment with the mission of the organization. Under the direction of the Programs Manager the Sr. Coordinator will help achieve the following results:

  • Serve as the programs lead where assigned as a part of a collaborative and dynamic team working to change lives through aquatics for all who enter one of SwimRVA's aquatics centers.
  • Support and grow staff as the shift leader focusing on staff skill development and positive morale through an upbeat on-deck experience.
  • Create and strengthen positive relationships with customers and their caregivers through proactive engagement, conversation and listening.

The Sr. Programs Coordinator job duties:

  • Deck coordination and leadership of swim instruction based programming
  • Program operations and leadership for SwimRVA Workforce Development school-based programming- Lifeguard School
  • Coordination and leadership for operations of SwimRVA Camps
  • Lead staff training and development during scheduled programs and shifts
  • Program development and increasing impact

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work and relate well with children and adults (ages 6 months-and up)
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid certification or ability to obtain in the first three months
  • Lifeguard Instructor or ability to obtain in the first year
  • Swimming experience
  • Abiality to work in high stress conditions, use critical thinking, and customer service davvy
  • Must be able to show great customer service to all customers and employee teammates of SwimRVA
