Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital (JBHH) is a three-story, 180,000-square-foot facility committed to the highest quality, treatment, and service. Opened in 1999, JBHH consolidates evaluation, clinical treatment, teaching and research, to offer a full continuum of care for children, adolescents, adults and elderly, including crisis stabilization, inpatient hospitalization, and outpatient programs. In association with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry, JBHH offers specialized treatment for numerous conditions including depression and mood disorders, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation or behavior, anxiety and panic disorders, drug and alcohol abuse and Alzheimer's disease. JBHH also specializes in criminal justice mental health services.

Position Summary

The Grants Management Specialist is responsible for administering a portfolio of designated grant-funded projects and programs, serving as programmatic and technical expert resource for leaders and staff in charge of implementing these projects and programs. The incumbent will conduct consistent and strategic post-award monitoring activities to ensure funds are used according to regulations, all activities are allowable, and projects are completed as established in the scope of work and in agreement with the funder. This position will act as a liaison between the Grant Operations Department and grant programs and projects. The incumbent may attend management meetings and may be involved directly or indirectly around confidential management decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Monitors the grant administration process and ongoing grant activities to ensure allowability, timely execution, and that delivery of services complies with local, state and federal regulations and program requirements. Determines necessary actions to ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions. Provides guidance, consultation, and technical assistance to grant program/project staff on grants management/administration mechanisms, responsibilities, requirements, policies, procedures throughout the life of the grant(s). Serves as a subject matter expert in interpreting, developing, and applying appropriate regulations, policies, and procedures related to designated grants, cooperative agreements, and other externally funded projects. Reviews monthly, quarterly and/or other periodic reports to ensure they are complete and accurate and provide the necessary feedback to program/project leaders. Applies knowledge of program needs and deadlines, and consistent follow-up to ensure submission of required documentation. Conducts cost analysis of grant-funded project/program budget and expenses to ensure all costs are allowable, allocable, necessary and reasonable according to the contract/agreement with the funder and any applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Reviews, interprets, and stays up-to-date on laws, regulations, and policies. Monitors new developments to advise on any potential grant project related changes. Participates in meetings with the Department of Grant Operations staff, grant project/program staff, funding agencies, and other key stakeholders, as necessary. Education

Bachelor's degree in health services administration, business administration or related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.

Experience

Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.

License/Certification

Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
