Mission:

The Mechatronics Hardware Engineering Manager directs the work of engineers to ensure the best practices around mechanical and electrical engineering development. They oversee the team's day-to-day responsibilities in designing, building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting mechanical and electrical systems or components. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets. Works to establish functional requirements and reviews solutions to ensure organizational needs are met.

The manager evaluates and resolves technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues. Works with the team and other departments to establish a design, technology, product development, and vendor strategy. They are also responsible for modifying existing electrical designs that may contain errors or need upgrades. They analyze, store, and retrieve information that can enable them to create the best electrical systems available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a resource for mechanical and electrical engineers on policies, procedures, and technical issues.
  • Coordinate workload in Scrum environment in conjunction with the Scrum Masters and Product Mangers.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities associated with engineering projects.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate daily activities of a department/group/team.
  • Oversee the recruitment, performance evaluation, and, if necessary, the termination of nonmanagement personnel.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS

  • 7 years of individual contributor experience as an Electrical Engineer, Electronics Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or other related experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline, or Associates with equivalent work experience. Project Management Certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles, specifically in the context of robotics and automated systems.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal including communicating with customers, engineering staff, and supervisors.
  • Expertise in mechanical design tools, CAD software, and simulation tools for mechanical systems.
  • Must have a great deal of technical knowledge and extensive knowledge of department processes.
  • Experience in project management for highly complex engineering projects, particularly those involving robotics or automation.
  • A strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering within robotics is essential.
