ATA Services, Inc. is currently seeking to hire an experienced Grants Account Auditor to work in a temporary position with the State of New Mexico – Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

  • Pay Rate: $29.00 per hour with weekly pay.
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Office Location: Santa Fe, NM

Job Duties:

The grant accountant/auditor is responsible for grant draw downs, reconciliations, and closeouts for disaster and non- disaster grants awarded to our agency. This is done by gathering and compile necessary data and information from various sources to ensure comprehensive and complete reports. Track/manage tracking logs with daily review of grant revenue and expenditures for DHSEM and FEMA compliance, to ensure accurate coding and reimbursement with grant requirements. Perform monthly reconciliations for each assigned grant and enter adjusting journal entries in SHARE, as needed. This position is required by the Department to draw federal operating funds to cover expenditure from different systems. Prepare and submit accurate and timely quarterly financial reports to FEMA for assigned grants. Collaborate with internal teams to gather relevant information and ensure compliance and deadlines are met for grant requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Two-year accounting degree or equivalent. Desirable: Bachelor’s degree; seminars or courses in grant administration and accounting
  • 3 to 5 years accounting, budget management or related experience. Must be an experienced user with Microsoft Word and Excel; advanced database skills.
  • Experience with grant management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to communicate processes and procedures required of PI/PD in grant
  • administration and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, to anticipate information needs of faculty and
  • staff related to grants, and to respond to new situations.
  • Must possess a high level of accuracy and be detail oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting skills; knowledge of Federal grant accounting standards is a plus.
