Who You Are

  • Entrepreneurial and start-up minded, with a passion for energy transition.
  • Interest in multifamily real estate and/or clean energy industries
  • Able to work independently to conduct research and complete deliverables on time


What You'll Do

  • Conduct policy-based research on legislation, regulations, and statutes, primarily and do so largely independently.
  • Prepare recommendation memos based on research findings.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory activity.
  • Develop and contribute to advocacy materials such as briefs, fact sheets, and other materials. in collaboration with internal experts and external consultants.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings to influence policy outcomes, including policymakers and decision makers.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Reside in California, ideally the Sacramento region (internship is primarily remote, but will have some in person meetings).
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s in public policy, political science, economics, or a similar field.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 cumulative from a college or graduate-level education program.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with a sense of urgency.
  • Problem solving and self-initiative.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote-first environment.
  • Excited about the energy transition.
  • Ability to work part-time or full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks May – August.
  • Preferred: College degree and enrolled in graduate education program; ability to work part-time or full-time beginning March - August 2024; experience in energy or real estate industries.
