The U.S. Alcohol Policy Alliance (USAPA), a nonprofit and nonpartisan entity dedicated to translating alcohol policy research into effective public health practices, is in search of a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer to enhance USAPA's influence in both state and federal alcohol policy initiatives. The CEO will act as the strategic leader, propelling the organization towards significant growth and societal impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visionary Leadership: Develop and advocate for a compelling vision for USAPA's role in reshaping alcohol policy across the nation, utilizing innovative strategies and collaborations to meet ambitious objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Mobilize a diverse array of stakeholders, including public health advocates, community organizations, policymakers, and affected populations, to rally around a unified agenda for evidence-based alcohol policies.
  • Partnership Development: Forge strategic alliances with philanthropic organizations, government bodies, corporate sponsors, and other key stakeholders to secure essential funding, resources, and support for USAPA's initiatives.
  • Strategic Implementation: Oversee the execution of USAPA's Strategic Plan, which encompasses:
    • Designing and managing an annual budget ranging from $200,000 to $350,000.
    • Establishing a robust fundraising program with diverse revenue streams.
    • Engaging meaningfully with USAPA's Scientific Advisory Board.
    • Strengthening and expanding the network of 15 state-based alcohol policy alliances.
    • Creating and executing a communications strategy aimed at transforming the narrative surrounding alcohol in the U.S.
    • Building a grassroots network of individuals affected by alcohol to foster an effective advocacy movement.
    • Coordinating partnerships with national and international organizations, foundations, and individuals.
    • Developing and disseminating position papers and action statements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in visionary leadership and strategic growth within the nonprofit, public health, or advocacy sectors, with a minimum of 10 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading coalitions or movements, mobilizing diverse stakeholders around a shared vision or cause.
  • Fundamental understanding of alcohol policy issues, public health principles, and advocacy strategies, with a commitment to evidence-based approaches and health equity.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying opportunities, innovating solutions, and driving organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey a compelling vision, foster consensus, and inspire action among varied audiences.
  • Proven ability to recruit, collaborate with, and support an active and engaged Board of Directors.
  • A willingness to advocate for truth and transparency in policy discussions.
