Overview

The Supply Chain & Logistics team, located in Warren, Ohio, is seeking a Logistics Coordinator This position is accountable for accurate and timely scheduling, communications, and documentation for deliveries of products to customers by organizing truckloads and schedules. This position is responsible for processing finished goods and scrap shipments, issuing packing tickets, tagging, and labeling coils, controlling staging areas, receiving goods and for coordinating all shipping of goods to and from the Warren plant. The person in this position must be available 24/7 via computer and cellular phone

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

Manage freight costs and scrap inventory levels over the prior year's results. Coordinate and lead interactions with freight carriers and plant personnel to improve these goals. Continuous pursuit of low-cost carriers while considering safety as the first priority. Interact with freight carriers while developing long-term relationships with other strategic partners. Ensures that the lowest cost carrier is being used within the plant lanes. Works closely with plant scheduling to coordinate transportation equipment within the appropriate loading windows to minimize truckload detention costs. While staying close to the transportation market, the position will support identifying optimization and cost reduction opportunities. Interacts with freight carriers and warehouse personnel; Coordinates multiple shipping sites in various locations across the country; Coordinates delivery and pickup/return with customers, AMS, and commercial account manager(s); Prepares delivery documents for truckers; Negotiates freight rates. Initiates and manages carrier load tenders. Coordinates labeling and packing tickets of plant material; Oversees the loading of materials onto trailers, railcars, or trucks. Direct the operations of warehouses on behalf of Novelis and provide appropriate and adequate instruction on the delivery of materials to customers. Plan, direct, and coordinate the storage and distribution of plant materials. Ensures compliance with DOT hazardous materials regulations, provides pertinent training for Warren plant employees, and ensures the availability of proper placards, labels, and shipping papers. Tally daily shipping metrics. Communicate with carriers on late shipments. Commit Finished Good coils to tendered loads in MSW and prepare paperwork for on-time shipments. Assist in the processing of scrap loads perform scrap inventory and update scrap inventory log. Perform empty paint tote inventory. Reprint pack tickets when required. Provide Proof of Delivery as requested by customers. Provide direction and support to Utility Operators to ensure loads are pulled for on-time shipment. Supports EHS policies and initiatives through personal use of PPE and oversight of compliance with EHS policies in the shipping area. Special projects and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

Associate Degree (minimum). Experience in an office or customer service environment; Experience in a manufacturing environment. Excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to connect with all levels in the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel. Adaptability to internal and proprietary software. Ability to work with a variety of people and personalities. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism with honesty and integrity. Ability to manage and keep track of multiple projects and priorities to meet required deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain or Logistics. 3-5 years prior experience in shipping, or as a Logistics Coordinator. Familiarity with JDA, SAP.

Location Profile

Novelis’ Warren facility is located in northeast Ohio— approximately an hour drive from Cleveland and an hour and a half from Pittsburgh. The facility built in 1965 applies coating to rolled aluminum beverage can sheet. The sheet is used to make aluminum beverage can lids for global soft drink beer and sparkling water brands. Warren showcases several high-end cultural venues including the Warren Community Amphitheater and Packard Music Hall.
