The position involves working closely with heavy haul contractors to ensure adherence to regulations and to provide reliable pilot car options for oversized load operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with pilot car service providers, regularly updating the directory to include new providers while removing outdated or non-compliant ones.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with service providers to ensure cost-effective solutions for heavy haul contractors.
  • Confirm the qualifications, insurance, and regulatory compliance of all pilot car services.
  • Collaborate with heavy haul contractors to understand their specific pilot car needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for contractors regarding pilot car services.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and execution of pilot cars and escort services for oversized load transportation.
  • Obtain necessary permits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to oversized load transport.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on pilot car services and compliance status to management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field, particularly in permitting and pilot car operations is desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations concerning oversized load transportation is highly advantageous.
