Job Summary

The Supply Chain & Logistics team at Novelis is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join our team. This role is accountable for accurate and timely scheduling, communications, and documentation for deliveries of products to customers by organizing truckloads and schedules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage freight costs and scrap inventory levels over the prior year's results.
  • Coordinate and lead interactions with freight carriers and plant personnel to improve these goals.
  • Develop long-term relationships with freight carriers and other strategic partners.
  • Work closely with plant scheduling to coordinate transportation equipment within the appropriate loading windows to minimize truckload detention costs.
  • Support identifying optimization and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinate multiple shipping sites in various locations across the country.
  • Coordinate delivery and pickup/return with customers, AMS, and commercial account manager(s).
  • Prepare delivery documents for truckers.
  • Negotiate freight rates.
  • Initiate and manage carrier load tenders.
  • Coordinate labeling and packing tickets of plant material.
  • Oversee the loading of materials onto trailers, railcars, or trucks.
  • Direct the operations of warehouses on behalf of Novelis.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the storage and distribution of plant materials.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT hazardous materials regulations.
  • Tally daily shipping metrics.
  • Communicate with carriers on late shipments.
  • Commit Finished Good coils to tendered loads in MSW and prepare paperwork for on-time shipments.
  • Assist in the processing of scrap loads.
  • Perform empty paint tote inventory.
  • Reprint pack tickets when required.
  • Provide Proof of Delivery as requested by customers.
  • Provide direction and support to Utility Operators to ensure loads are pulled for on-time shipment.
  • Support EHS policies and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree (minimum).
  • Experience in an office or customer service environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Adaptability to internal and proprietary software.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and personalities.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism with honesty and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain or Logistics.
  • 3-5 years prior experience in shipping, or as a Logistics Coordinator.
  • Familiarity with JDA, SAP.
