Business Continuity Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting into the second line Risk Division, the Business Continuity Coordinator (BCC) engages management to maintain Provident’s Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Program, which consists of policies, plans, and procedures that adhere to industry standards and practices. The BCC works closely with Information Technology and Information Security in their responsibilities to aid the Bank in the technical recovery from a disaster, along with participating in Provident’s corporate incident response program. The BCC’s goal is to synchronize Provident’s recovery expectations with the Bank’s overall business objectives and priorities to effectively ensure operational resiliency within Provident’s critical business operations. The BCC should have a strong background in risk management with experience in performing business impact assessments, crisis management, and regulatory compliance, and should be adept at communicating with executive management, the Board of Directors, and regulatory agencies.
- Business Resilience & Continuity Planning (BCP)
- Responsible for developing, coordinating, assessing, and communicating BCPs associated with the Bank’s functions and departments
- Regularly review and update BCPs to reflect changes in business operations, technology, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities. Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address identified risks
- Disaster Recovery Testing
- Develop and deliver training programs to ensure all employees are aware of their roles and responsibilities in the event of a disruption.
- Conduct regular drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of BCPs and the preparedness of staff.
- Engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to coordinate the planning and execution of external Disaster Recovery testing to meet the requirements of severe but plausible scenarios and document the Bank’s ability to recover and resume services within defined tolerances
- Third Party Resilience
- Evaluate the effectiveness of vendors BCP and resilience plans
- Provide BCP expertise in the overarching Third Risk Management Program
- Incident Response
- Participate in the Bank’s incident response process including investigations, detection, triage, analysis, containment, and post incident activities
- Reporting and Communication
- Prepare and present regular reports on business continuity status, risks, and incidents to executive management and the Board of Directors
- Communicate effectively with regulators and auditors, predominately during examinations, providing clear and comprehensive presentations and reports as required
- File reports where necessary to state, regulatory, and other enforcement agencies

SKILLS AND TRAINING
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in business continuity software and tools
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to business continuity and disaster recovery
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Information Technology, or a related field preferred (or proven expertise derived from work experience)
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business continuity planning, risk management, or a related field, preferably within the financial services industry
- Proven experience in reporting to and working with executive management and the Board of Directors
- Demonstrated ability to present effectively in front of regulators and other external stakeholders
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Licenses and Certifications Expiration Date
- Professional certification such as CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional), MBCP (Master Business Continuity Professional), or similar are highly desirable
