Manager of Supplier Quality Engineering

Overview

The Manager of Supplier Quality Engineering will lead a growing and diverse organization of Quality Engineers and Analysts responsible for the quality management, assessment, and oversight of critical suppliers producing a diverse array product for submarine construction. These products may include missile and payload tubes, decks and large structural components, major castings and forgings, and a wide variety of commodities and coded stock.

In addition to traditional manager’s responsibilities: maintaining product schedule and quality, employee development, establishing and maintaining funding, manning, and tasking to support supplier oversight efforts, and process improvements; this manager will also ensure the organization works to integrate quality engineering principles across all phases of the procurement cycle and across current and future programs.

This position requires close working relationships with peers within the supplier quality organization along with program office, procurement and material services organizations, and across nearly all disciplines within the engineering community. To be successful, the ideal candidate must possess robust knowledge of quality principles and systems engineering tenets, a solid understanding of supply chain management, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, be an effective writer/reviewer of technical correspondence, and be capable of working with, and motivating their team and others. The manager will need to think strategically about the future of the department and influence their peers and leaders to assure continued success.

Occasional travel to supplier facilities will be required.

Qualifications

Required:

B.S. or higher in Engineering or Technology A minimum of 7 years of related experience in Quality, Engineering, or Supply Chain. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor or program/project leadership Knowledge of EVMS Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance through the Department of Defense

Preferred:

Advanced degree in Engineering or Systems Engineering BLG or FLG participant/graduate ASQ certifications Leadership of multidiscipline projects/problems. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and be able to organize and direct projects or mange processes in an efficient manner
