Description

The Quality Engineer's Job Responsibilities will revolve around:

  • Bridging the Gap: You'll act as a communication bridge between customers and the company, ensuring quality standards are met and any quality issues are resolved effectively.
  • Ensuring Quality from Start to Finish: You'll review customer orders and specifications to identify special requirements for raw materials and castings. You'll then make sure these requirements are included in the manufacturing process, inspection plans, and testing procedures.
  • Keeping Everyone on the Same Page: You'll collaborate with various departments (materials testing, non-destructive testing, casting layout) to ensure everyone is aware of the requirements and that all testing results and paperwork are collected for production sheets and inspection methods.
  • Adapting to Change: You'll manage changes to customer orders or blueprints, coordinating with different teams to make necessary revisions and guarantee adherence to the updated specifications.
  • Quality Champion: You'll conduct audits of company systems and job processes across departments, ensuring corrective actions are taken when needed. You'll also prioritize tasks, focusing on critical areas like weld repairs and pre-finishing. You may establish written controls and instruct personnel as required.
  • Customer Focus: In some cases, you may visit customer facilities to address quality-related issues.

Profile

A successful Quality Engineer will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably within a precision casting environment.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (or equivalent) and their application in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proven experience conducting internal audits of quality systems and processes.
  • Strong understanding of precision casting methods (e.g., investment casting, sand casting) and their quality control procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of dimensional tolerancing, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting customer drawings, specifications, and purchase orders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with customers, internal departments (engineering, production, procurement), and management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quality control software (optional but a plus).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous quality improvement.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
