Our client specializes in producing intricate metal castings for energy applications and components for the aerospace sector. They excel in crafting complex shapes with remarkable precision and outstanding quality.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Engineer include:

  • Facilitating Communication: Acting as a liaison between clients and the organization to ensure that quality standards are upheld and any quality concerns are promptly addressed.
  • Quality Assurance Throughout the Process: Reviewing client orders and specifications to identify unique requirements for raw materials and castings, ensuring these are integrated into the manufacturing process, inspection protocols, and testing methodologies.
  • Coordinating Efforts: Working closely with various departments (materials testing, non-destructive testing, casting layout) to ensure all team members are informed of the requirements and that all testing results and documentation are compiled for production records and inspection methods.
  • Managing Changes: Overseeing modifications to client orders or designs, coordinating with different teams to implement necessary updates and ensure compliance with revised specifications.
  • Quality Oversight: Conducting audits of organizational systems and job processes across departments, ensuring corrective measures are taken when necessary. Prioritizing tasks in critical areas such as weld repairs and pre-finishing, and providing written guidelines and training to personnel as needed.
  • Client Engagement: Occasionally visiting client facilities to resolve quality-related matters.

Candidate Profile

A successful candidate for the Quality Assurance Engineer position will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality assurance role, ideally within a precision casting environment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems (or equivalent) and their implementation in a manufacturing context.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting internal audits of quality systems and processes.
  • A strong grasp of precision casting techniques (e.g., investment casting, sand casting) and their associated quality control practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dimensional tolerancing, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and non-destructive testing (NDT) methodologies.
  • Experience in reviewing and interpreting client drawings, specifications, and purchase orders.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with clients, internal departments (engineering, production, procurement), and management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quality control software (optional but advantageous).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous quality enhancement.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance.
  • The capability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
