Our client is a leader in the production of intricate metal castings for energy applications and components for the aerospace sector. They are renowned for their ability to create complex shapes with exceptional precision and quality.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Engineer include:
- Facilitating Communication: You will serve as a liaison between clients and the organization, ensuring that quality expectations are met and addressing any quality concerns promptly.
- Quality Oversight: You will analyze client orders and specifications to pinpoint unique requirements for materials and castings, ensuring these are integrated into the manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: You will work closely with various departments (such as materials testing and casting layout) to ensure that all parties are informed of requirements and that all testing outcomes and documentation are compiled for production and inspection.
- Managing Changes: You will oversee modifications to client orders or designs, coordinating with teams to implement necessary adjustments and ensure compliance with updated specifications.
- Quality Leadership: You will conduct audits of the company's systems and processes, ensuring that corrective measures are implemented as necessary. You will prioritize tasks, focusing on critical areas such as weld repairs and pre-finishing, and may develop written controls and provide guidance to staff as needed.
- Client Engagement: Occasionally, you may visit client facilities to resolve quality-related issues.
Candidate Profile
The ideal Quality Assurance Engineer will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality assurance role, ideally within a precision casting environment.
- Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems (or equivalent) and their application in manufacturing.
- Proven experience in conducting internal audits of quality systems and processes.
- A strong understanding of precision casting techniques (e.g., investment casting, sand casting) and associated quality control measures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dimensional tolerancing, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Experience in reviewing and interpreting client drawings, specifications, and purchase orders.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with clients, internal departments (engineering, production, procurement), and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and quality control software (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous quality enhancement.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance.
