Job Summary

We are seeking two graduate students to be part of the team of faculty and students working on the AI and the Humanities Symposium that will be held in April of 2025, funded by the Provost Innovation and Enhancement (PIE) Grant. These designated student worker positions will be for 16 weeks in the fall and 16 weeks in the spring semesters, beginning August 15, 2024 through May 15, 2025 for 8 hours of work a week. Employment may be for one semester only or for the full year, though a full-year commitment is preferred. This appointment is in addition to any teaching assignments you may receive. It does not replace a teaching assignment. PhD and Master’s students from any humanities, arts, or social science disciplines are eligible to apply.

The AI and the Humanities Symposium Assistant Coordinator will:

• work with team to design a symposium logo;
• create a marketing plan;
• oversee save-the-dates and marketing in print and on social media;
• coordinate and post frequently on social media;
• collect abstracts from the call for papers;
• communicate with presenters and keynote speakers;
• meet with the planning team;
• create the program;
• brainstorm incentives and attention-getting activities to encourage attendance;
• other event planning as necessary.

These positions require the ability to organize events, articulate the event message and purpose, communicate with stakeholders and presenters, prepare marketing plans, use a variety of social media, meet deadlines, write effectively for specific audiences, and solve problems creatively.

Pay Rate

$14.00/hour

Required Qualifications

Teaching and research experience is required

Preferred Qualifications

Interest in AI is encouraged but not required.
