As a Special Education Teacher Assistant, you will collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other educational staff to deliver a holistic, trauma-informed educational experience for students facing significant emotional and behavioral challenges, including autism. Your classroom duties may vary, encompassing academic subjects, physical education, arts, and technology. Positions are available in both elementary and junior high/high school settings.

Qualifications:

Compensation: Starting at $33,150/year, this position is hourly/non-exempt, with pay determined by experience, education, and certifications.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time role, requiring 37.5 hours per week, typically from 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, aligned with the academic calendar. Shorter hours apply during Extended School Year periods, with full-time pay. Lunch is provided on school days.

Core Responsibilities:
The Special Education Teacher Assistant will:

  • Implement Behavioral and Therapeutic Crisis Interventions: Utilize trauma-informed strategies to foster a safe and positive learning environment, ensuring individual growth and development.
  • Conduct Social Skills Training: Facilitate social skills instruction and weave it into daily activities.
  • Deliver Educational Instruction: Collaborate with the Teacher Therapist to plan, execute, and assess a comprehensive curriculum tailored to the unique needs of each student, aligned with their Individualized Educational Plan.
  • Collect Data and Report Progress: Gather and present behavioral and academic data under the guidance of the Teacher Therapist, assessing student performance and recommending appropriate goals.
  • Develop Lesson Plans: Create and implement lesson plans that reflect best practices in specialized education.

Requirements:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree (preferably in education or a related field) and a valid Driver's License with appropriate insurance. A Substitute Teaching License is preferred or must be obtained upon hire.
