Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specializes in air, water, waste, environmental planning, ecological, and cultural resources throughout our 45+ offices across North America.

We are seeking an Environmental Planning Intern in our Austin, Texas office in support of our Environmental Project Management/Planning Department. The selected candidate would join a team of more than 400 environmental professionals across the United States. The role of this position includes supporting routing and siting studies and NEPA analysis for electric transmission and renewable energy projects as well as FERC resource reports for pipeline projects. The position of Environmental Planning Intern is a unique opportunity to gain experience with environmental constraints analysis, data collection, stakeholder meetings, and general project management tasks. This temporary 8- to 12-week position is intended to provide insights into a career as an environmental consultant. The position also allows for exposure and introduction to other related resources such as permitting, site assessment, and public outreach.

Required Education/Experience

Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban or Regional Planning, Geography, Environmental Science or Management, Biology, or other related field. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team and collaborative environment. Experience with Microsoft Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc). Interest or experience with Google Earth, ArcGIS, and GPS equipment is a plus. Interest or ability to do aerial imagery interpretation and understand engineering drawings and topographical maps. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Possess good writing skills. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship

Desired Education Experience

Prior internship and/or related designing, drafting, or engineering experience is a plus
