GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

To provide general administrative and clerical support to the AmeriCorps Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Department by performing a variety of clerical and technical tasks as assigned. Employee will serve as the first point of contact to RSVP, provide assistance to volunteers, interns, community agencies, and volunteer station sights, elected officials, students, staff, and the public. This position receives general direction from the Project Director of RSVP and exercises no supervision.

*Employee may not work more than 19.5 hours per week*

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:

Ability to: 1. Pertinent Federal, State, and college laws, rules, and regulations; 2. Operating various electronic equipment, such as computers, scanners, copiers, printers, and webcams; 3. Proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation; 4. Principles and practices of the Retired Senior Volunteer program and its community partners; 5. Microsoft applications, assistive devices, and internal software; Skills in:  6. Critical thinking; 7. Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; 8. Data entry and basic recordkeeping; 9. Providing excellent customer service when dealing with a wide range of populations; Ability to: 10. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; 11. Prepare routine correspondence and memorandums; 12. Understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions; 13. Prioritize and perform tasks in a timely and efficient manner, requiring minimal supervision; 14. Organize and participate in community meetings and the occasional evening or weekend program special event

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

BENEFITS:

Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).


QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  High school diploma or GED

Experience:  Some work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:  Work experience in a clerical environment
