We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Administrative Support Specialist for Nursing Services to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our nursing services team, you will play a critical role in supporting the planning and execution of our programs and administrative projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and train administrative support staff and technical program staff engaged in various activities pertinent to the planning and execution of the program or administrative projects.
- Serve as Contract Manager for Nursing Services, interacting independently with vendors for services and goods such as haircuts and furniture orders.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and assist with the development, monitoring, and preparation of the departmental budget.
- Respond to routine and non-routine inquiries regarding rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain record keeping and filing systems.
- Monitor the condition and repair of furniture for the Nursing Services units and order new furniture as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the patient care unit.
Requirements:
- Considerable knowledge of agency rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Extensive computer skills to include input accuracy and the ability to create graphical data.
- Skill in the use of electronic data and/or word processing equipment and software.
- Skill in collecting and compiling data and the ability to formulate reports.
- Ability to implement administrative procedures and to evaluate their effectiveness, and to interpret complex rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to set priorities, organize tasks, and ensure follow through.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing so as to effectively communicate with colleagues and subordinate staff.
Working Conditions:
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and to communicate effectively with colleagues and subordinate staff.
