SUMMARY

Bering Straits Professional Services, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Senior Technical Trainer – Staff Trainer Operations with experience in combat arms at the battalion or brigade level to support the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) security assistance program focused on building international peacekeeping capacity in Zambia.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Technical Trainer shall be the Team Lead’s principal trainer conducting various peacekeeping-related contract training requirements specified in the SOW. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Minimum of fifteen (15) cumulative years of . or NATO military experience; must include combat arms battalion/brigade staff officer experience on a . or NATO military staff. [Combat arms is defined as armor, cavalry, engineer, field artillery, infantry, special forces, or special operations forces. Staff officer experience is defined as a primary staff officer assignment on a . or NATO battalion or brigade staff; O3 non-primary staff officer time on a . or NATO battalion staff or O4 non-primary staff officer time on a . or NATO brigade staff will be considered with detailed evidence of that candidate’s active performance and participation in integrated battalion/brigade planning and operations, particularly performing those duties while deployed to a peacekeeping, combat, or other contingency operation.] Attainment of military grade of O4 and higher (or NATO equivalent). Relevant military operations or foreign security force (police or military) capacity building experience in the last 5 years. Experience as a senior trainer, military or civilian, to a foreign security partner

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Commanded a combat arms battalion-level unit in the . or NATO military land forces. Regional experience in Sub-Saharan Africa. Battalion and/or brigade staff experience while deployed to a combat, peacekeeping, or other contingency operation. UN peacekeeping operations experience.

This position requires the ability to maneuver around and see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and contractors. Visual acuity to review written documentation and ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels. Requires some physical exertion, such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces as well as time spent outdoors in extreme temperatures and variable weather conditions. Work can require prolonged standing indoors or outdoors, bending, reaching, and lifting.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is self-managed and works at the direction of the government and is directly related to the business operation supporting the customer’s objectives.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
