This role is crucial in assisting Lab Technicians in developing and deploying molecular markers to support breeding and seed production for core crops such as Sunflower, Canola, Carinata, and Sorghum. Job Details:
  • Duration: 3-6 month
  • Average Hours: 20-40 per week (flexible to the candidate's needs)
  • Shift and flexible hours are desirable
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform tissue sampling for DNA extraction in a laboratory environment
  • Prepare buffers and reagents according to SOPs
  • Monitor and maintain proper functioning of laboratory equipment
  • Ensure the availability of supplies and manage waste streams
  • Maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment in compliance with Environmental Safety and Health guidelines and housekeeping practices
  • Attend trainings and wear appropriate PPE
  • Perform all duties with high accuracy to maintain the integrity of quality results
  • Provide support to other Operations and Distribution Centers as needed
Required Skills:
  • Responsible, results-oriented, focused, and agile
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs
Desired Qualifications:
  • Pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in plant biology, biological, agricultural, or related field
  • Hands-on experience in plant tissue sampling or laboratory work is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Proactive, engaged, motivated, responsible, respectful, and safety-conscious
