Job Description

As the Deputy Chief Pilot, you will collaborate with and assist the Chief Pilot to oversee and monitor Pilots and aircraft on all aviation projects for the Land Asset Integrity team in the Americas. These duties will be in addition to your Pilot in Command (PIC) duties where you will continue to be responsible for planning, managing, and executing remote sensing missions including coordinating all missions with appropriate agencies. 

In the absence of the Chief Pilot, you will assume the position of Acting Chief Pilot and ensure that all pilots and aircraft are mission-ready and adhere to the Fugro Flight Operations Manual and safety standards, as well as comply with Federal, State, and FAA regulations. You will apply risk assessments considering flight requirements and conditions and ensure that all Fugro aircraft are safely operated and that all crew members always maintain professional standards.

The Deputy Chief Pilot will also serve as Training Pilot when required.

This position is based in Rapid City, SD.

Job Responsibilities

Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.Collaborate with the Chief Pilot to manage and oversee all flight operations, including scheduling, dispatch, and flight crew assignments. ensure adherence to operational and safety procedures.When serving as Pilot in Command:Responsible for overall mission planning and safety of flightPrepare flight plans for data acquisition missions in controlled airspace.Prepare daily activity logs and reports.Exercise professional judgment at the job site in determining the conditions and procedures for data collection.Work as a team to set priorities for the sequence of workflow to ensure the most efficient completion of each project.Review project flight packets and coordinate with the Airborne Sensor Operator for job requirements and operations restrictions.Provide training oversight and act as a resource to assigned staff; transfer knowledge to staff and identify training needs.Track pilot currency status in Zulu logs and communicate changes and other pertinent information to the chief pilot and other aviation managers to facilitate project planning.Serve as training pilot, when required.Coordinate with appropriate air traffic controlling agencies as required.Ensure flight crews have the information needed to perform effectively and efficiently.Assist in managing the flight crew, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and addressing disciplinary issues.Maintain accurate records of flight operations, crew qualifications, training, and regulatory compliance.Contribute to the development and review of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient and safe flight operations.Assist the Chief Pilot in managing all flight records for pilot proficiency.Assist in developing and implementing safety programs and procedures to enhance flight safety. Ensure adherence to guidelines, including, but not limited to company operating procedures, equipment operating procedures, FAA regulations, and client specifications.

Job Requirements

Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictionsTwo years of college/technical training or equivalent experience is a plus Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time.Minimum 750 hours as Pilot in Command; FAA PART 91 professional experience as a pilot with proven ability to safely manage and execute complex, evolving flight operations and critical project support missions.Experience managing FAA PART 91 aviation scheduling, training, asset maintenance collaboration, and crew leadership. Demonstrated ability to succeed in leading individuals and developing assigned staff professionally to maximize both individual and team potential.FAA commercial, multi-engine instrument rating required.FAA CFII and MEI preferred.Current instrument rating.ATP Airline Transport Pilot certification preferred.Possess a high level of knowledge and capability in managing Part 91 aviation business.Ability to select qualified key staff members, establish a team environment, and motivate others.Have detailed knowledge of HSE and ISO requirements and procedures as they relate to aviationCurrently hold or able to obtain a US Passport for possible international travelValid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record
