Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for Assistant to the Dean III at the Gainesville Campus. The position provides administrative support to the Associate Vice President and Dean, University College, manages a major office, and provides administrative support and assistance to the directors and staff of University College. The position collects and analyzes data to support all University College programs and retention and graduation efforts. The position uses Banner to track the success rate of all students impacted by University College programs and initiatives. The position monitors all department and grant budgets. In addition to background checks for all cardholders, O.C.G.A. § 50¿5¿83 requires a credit check on all employees issued a purchasing card. Additionally, credit checks must be run at the time of Pcard renewal.

Responsibilities

Acts as budget monitor for institutional and grant budgets for University College. Analyzes and projects shortfalls/overages for redistribution to ensure maximum services for all served by University College. Aids dean in developing financial strategies to support college priorities. Collects data re usage of UC academic support services to support resource allocation. Serves as the primarry contact for Academic Suspension Appeals. Interacts with the Registrar's office. Manages the resource account. Prepares documents for the Suspension Appeals. Serves as the primary information contact for area as well as disseminates information for University College dean and departments. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with college officials, students, faculty, staff, and the general public.Prepares and maintains copies of a variety of administrative documents, including departmental reports, expenditures, and personnel-related documents. Composes correspondence and maintains a high level of competency in various computer programs, including Microsoft Office. Maintains calendar for Associate Vice President and Dean. Schedules appointments and meetings, distributes mail, coordinates communications, and receives telephone calls. Arranges travel and completes travel expense reimbersement requests for Associate Vice President and Dean, .Creates professional and complex documents and presentations. Manages event planning and supports UC and UNG Events. Supervises part-time staff. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff.  Must have the ability to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize duties.  Must be able to satisfactorily pass credit check as position requires qualifications to hold a purchasing card for the institution.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Business, Business Administration, or Marketing preferred. Four (4) years of administrative support experience required; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Higher education experience strongly preferred.
