Job Summary:
The Research Administrator III will provide administrative support to the Department of Surgery, with a focus on grant and contract management, research operations, and regulatory compliance. This role will work closely with faculty, staff, and external agencies to ensure the successful execution of research projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate grant and contract proposals, including receipt and development of proposals, review and interpretation of agency guidelines, and coordination of deadlines and application forms.
- Provide technical assistance to Principal Investigators during the grant/contract application process, including assistance with budget preparation, coordination of subcontract agreements, and all other administrative specifications.
- Coordinate with the Division of Sponsored Research to establish subprojects and subcontracts, ensure accurate setup in PeopleSoft, and complete initial effort commitment forms.
- Process and update payroll distributions, identify changes affecting departmental/college resources, and work with divisional and department administrators to facilitate distribution updates.
- Manage grant/contract-related expenditures, reconcile monthly to ensure accuracy and compliance with agency and University regulations, and review/approve vendor invoices, P-Card charges, and purchase orders within PeopleSoft.
- Coordinate IRB/IACUC regulatory support for Program Principal Investigators, including local and central IRB packets, protocol extensions, and site monitoring, auditing, and inspection visits.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in grant and contract administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in OnCore, Epic, UFIRST, and Peoplesoft, as well as knowledge of university purchasing procedures, general office practices, and basic arithmetic and bookkeeping.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy office with frequent interruptions, changing priorities, and short deadlines, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
