Laboratory Technician III

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician III to join our team at the University of Florida. This is a full-time position in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will perform laboratory experiments using gene therapy applications and procedures established in our lab. This position requires work with rodent animal models, histological work, and molecular/cellular work.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in treating animals with pharmacological agents or immunotherapy using various injection techniques.
- Assist with experimental approaches using magnetic nanoparticles and regulatory management (IACUCs).
- Collect and prepare organs and tissues for histopathology, including staining with standard histology stains and immunohistochemistry.
- Conduct image capture and analysis using fluorescent, confocal, and multiphoton microscopes.
- Perform molecular cloning, plasmid purification, primer design, RNA and DNA isolation, and real-time PCR.
- Develop proficiency in multiparameter flow cytometry and set up multicolor flow panels.
- Ensure laboratory compliance with governing rules and regulations, including IACUC and IRB submissions.
- Train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students performing diagnostic procedures.
- Associate's degree in an appropriate area and four years of related experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of related experience.
- Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with animal colony management, handling rodents, and laboratory techniques such as immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry.
