Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Technical Assistant for the Digital Classroom Services Department.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists Supervisors in oversight of quality control of classroom technology on assigned campus and daily management of classrooms. Provides advanced technical support to faculty using DCS technology including, but not limited to, troubleshooting user error and adjusting computer settings. Assists in use and troubleshooting of specialist technology, including videoconference and active learning equipment. Performs immediate equipment repairs including, not limited to, diagnosing equipment malfunctions, replacing cabling, components, projectors, and other parts, and programming systems. Delivers, picks up, and sets up portable classroom equipment. Locks and unlock classroom systems. Tests, inventories, and cleans classroom equipment. Assists in administrative tasks for campus, including training of student workers. Assists in building of classroom technology. Other assigned tasks and projects as necessary. Position Status Part Time Hours Per Week 19.5 Daily Work Shift Rotating Work Arrangement FLSA Nonexempt Position Salary 17.50 Payroll Designation PeopleSoft Terms of Appointment Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience, or other technical work may be substituted for the degree. Certifications/Licenses Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.  Preferred Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience in technical and/or user support. Comfort with audio/visual equipment and computer-based technology. Equipment Utilized Mac and PC computers, including basic use and adjustment of settings relating to audio and video. Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability to lift 40 pounds and perform physical repair work. Special Conditions Clean Driving Record.
