Job Title: Buyer/Purchasing 2
Location: Peoria IL(onsite)
Duration: 12+ months (possible extension)
Pay rate: $24.50/hr
End Client: Caterpillar
Schedule: 1st shift
Typical task breakdown:
- Sourcing parts/tools/service
- Cost Savings
- Tracking non-conformances
- Scheduling tire & glass repairs/replacement
- Service-calibrations/repairs-onsite & offsite
- Machine/equipment rental
- Hazardous material purchases
- Assisting managers/approvers and other facilities with questions about NextGen invoicing/grief
- Maintain good relationship with suppliers and customers
- NextGen catalog, non-catalog PO’s & Capital orders
- NextGen open PO’s “facility contracts”
- NextGen receiving, invoicing & grief
- Workflow non-cat parts
- Back up for GP-450 & cat parts
- Web PD PO’s for suppliers not available in NextGen
- Antares-Morton parts ordering-Crib inventory/UP
- ProCard purchases & Monthly ProCard reconciliation
Interaction with team:
- Frequent interaction with team and suppliers
Work environment:
20% factory floor, 80% office (estimation)
Education & Experience Required:
- 2+ years finance related experience required.
- Associate’s degree or High School Diploma with 2 to 4+ years related experience
- Buyer/procurement experience (highly preferred)

(Desired)
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are a requirement for Procurement Specialists. They use these skills to determine their company’s product needs and to create constructive relationships with vendors.
- Project management: Procurement Specialists often manage multiple projects at one time. The ability to plan, delegate and evaluate progress toward goals is necessary for managing these projects.
- Negotiation: they should understand price points and be able to negotiate effectively.
- Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving skills. For example, they may need to solve the problem of a product or service that does not meet the quality standards of their company.
- Grief resolution between the company and suppliers
- Supplier accountability -Hold the supplier accountable to supply quality parts and services.
