University Hospital’s Adult & Pediatric Injury Prevention program is hiring We are looking for injury prevention Health Educators to support our Buckle UP, Safe Kids San Antonio, community and inpatient programs. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Works with UH staff, patients and the community to support our car seat education and community injury prevention efforts. Primarily supports Buckle Up car seat education and distribution efforts; including, but not limited to, teaching our Car Seat 101 / Safe Riders classes, performing car seat installations and participating in community education events. Supports Safe Kids San Antonio efforts by providing basic safety information on many topics including, but not limited to, burn prevention, home safety, pedestrian safety, safe sleep, sports and recreational safety and violence prevention. Position is full-time with some evening and weekend hours.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors’ degree in the social sciences, public health, allied health, education or related field with experience in community outreach, health promotion and/or injury prevention is required. Effective communication skills, including experience with public speaking and/or providing educational presentations is required.

English/Spanish fluency is preferred. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician status must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
