Position Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Clinical Education Specialist plays a pivotal role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating diverse educational initiatives that align with the mission, vision, and values of University Health. This position collaborates with staff across all levels of the organization to foster skill enhancement, drive performance improvement, and promote a culture of empowerment and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Act as a resource for departmental leaders to achieve business objectives through the design and execution of learning and development programs aimed at enhancing employee competencies and optimizing overall performance.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships throughout the organization to accurately identify learning and development needs, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of University Health.
  3. Cooperatively design, manage, facilitate, and assess both clinical and non-clinical development programs with a results-oriented focus.
  4. Conduct thorough assessments of learning and competency requirements at individual, departmental, and system-wide levels, and implement comprehensive strategies to address these needs.
  5. Architect and oversee programs that cater to the learning, development, and competency requirements at various organizational levels, including leadership development, talent management, diversity and inclusion, and employee engagement.
  6. Serve as a trainer, coordinator, and subject-matter expert, arranging for additional instructors as necessary for leadership and staff training initiatives.
  7. Propose program designs, implementation strategies, and change management approaches to learning and development, HR, and other departmental leaders, ensuring alignment on program objectives and outcomes.
  8. Develop and implement measurement and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of educational programs.
  9. Utilize contemporary adult learning principles in the development and facilitation of educational activities, applying performance improvement and evaluation competencies in collaboration with departmental leaders.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is mandatory, with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing required and a Master's degree in Nursing preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of five years of full-time nursing experience, with at least three years in a nursing specialty. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and instructional implementation is essential, along with strong instructional delivery, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Training certification is preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Current certification as a Basic Life Support Instructor is required or must be obtained within three months of employment. A valid State of Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse is also required.
