Job Overview
Under general oversight, this role is pivotal in evaluating medical record documentation against billing standards and providing guidance to departments and faculty on the accurate documentation of medical records for patient services.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough quality assessments of coding practices to ensure that documentation aligns with coding regulations and selection criteria, adhering to all applicable coding and billing standards.
- Investigate and address coding-related denials as reported, while reviewing services in charge review to pinpoint coding discrepancies or trends.
- Propose modifications to policies and procedures aimed at enhancing professional fee coding and data management.
- Execute daily tasks in a manner that upholds strict confidentiality standards.
- Offer constructive feedback to providers based on quality assessments to reduce errors.

Training and Education
- Design and deliver training sessions on documentation, billing, and coding to keep providers informed of updates or changes in guidelines that may prevent denials or boost revenue.
- Provide educational resources on coding, billing, and documentation to end users and ancillary staff as necessary.

Compliance and Collaboration
- Report compliance issues identified through reviews and work in collaboration with Compliance to develop and implement corrective action plans to address these issues.
- Act as a resource for coding activities within assigned departments and/or sub-specialties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State, and Payer regulations.
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Strong leadership capabilities; adept at exercising judgment to make informed decisions.
- Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities while achieving objectives and collaborating with teams.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional planning and organizational abilities.

Education Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.

Experience Requirements
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is essential.

Licensure and Certification
- Accreditation from a recognized professional coding organization, such as the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification is required.
