POSITIONSUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides direct diabetes medical nutrition therapy education, assessment and followup and assists in developing diabetes education activities. Participates in staff and professional development activities and acts as a liaison with all diabetes medical nutrition therapy interactions with the program. Engages in all quality assurance activities; collects, compiles and summarizes data for the Diabetes Education Program. Assists in the assessment, development and evaluation of the program and its goals. Complies with UHS departmental policies and procedures and maintains good guest and working relationships.

EDUCATION

A Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field is required. Must be a Registered Dietitian. Three years of related experience in a diabetes management program is preferred. Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) preferred. Certification CDE required upon 18 months of entering position. Current CPR certification preferred. Must have a current ServSafe® Certification or obtain within 6 months of hire. Experience with continuous glucose monitoring systems and as a pump trainer considered an asset.

LICENSURE

Must possess a current license from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians.
