Position Overview:

This role is integral to the Education and Training Directorate within the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute (DMRTI).

Salary negotiations may be considered for candidates who are new to Federal service. Leave accrual negotiations are also available for eligible candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as a subject matter expert in areas including:
- Joint and contingency operations
- Emergency management
- Chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) matters
- Oversee the formulation of proficiency standards for joint medical operations, emergency management, and CBRNE.

- Leverage knowledge of DMRTI's missions, objectives, and policies to assist various agencies in addressing educational and training requirements.

- Identify training needs related to joint medical operations, emergency management, and CBRNE. Collaborate with Instructional Systems Specialists to design and assess training programs. Evaluate concepts, plans, and actions to provide insights on the effectiveness of training initiatives. Offer recommendations for training enhancements based on research findings.

To qualify, candidates must possess the experience outlined below.

Experience encompasses both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer activities through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited. Resumes must clearly outline relevant experience; transcripts will be required if qualifying based on education.


Specialized Experience:

A minimum of one year of specialized experience demonstrating practical knowledge of the subject area and instructional methods, which includes:

  • Developing training programs
  • Updating training methodologies based on technological advancements
  • Providing technical guidance regarding training policies, procedures, and programs

This specialized experience is typically associated with work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal positions allow for education to substitute for required experience; however, for this role, candidates must meet the qualification requirements through experience alone—no educational substitution is permitted.
