Program Overview

 New Graduate RN Transition Program - Open to Associate Degree Holders

We are excited to announce our New Graduate RN Transition Program, specifically designed for recent nursing graduates.

Program Structure

As participants in this program, you will engage in a comprehensive transition experience while undergoing departmental orientation. Each month, you will attend a four-hour educational session and collaborate on an evidence-based practice project, which is to be finalized by the conclusion of the residency program. Attendance is compulsory, and compensation will be provided for your participation in the residency sessions. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to connect with clinical specialists, work together to tackle clinical challenges, and gain essential insights into the resources available to enhance your nursing practice.

Cohort Information

  • Cohorts will be established based on your start date. Applications for the RN Transition Program are continuously accepted, and if selected, your cohort will be determined by your start date.
  • For those interested in Critical Care Units, prior clinical experience, externships, senior practicums, or relevant coursework as part of your nursing education is highly desirable.

Program Description

The 12-month transition-to-practice initiative utilizes the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program framework. We provide a series of educational and practical experiences tailored to support you as you transition into your inaugural professional role as a Registered Nurse. This program is specifically designed for newly licensed registered nurses with no prior experience in the field.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must possess a valid RN license by the program's start date in Georgia or a Compact State.
  • Successfully pass the nursing board examinations, with results confirmed by the designated deadline.
  • Hold an active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, which must remain valid for at least 30 days following the program's commencement.
  • Submit a detailed resume outlining your clinical rotation hours, the facilities you have worked in, and the specific units you have been involved with.
  • Must have graduated from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
