About the Role

Amara is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kinship Care Specialist to join our team in Seattle. As a key member of our Kinship Services program, you will play a vital role in supporting kinship families in King County, helping them navigate the foster care licensure process with the Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).

Key Responsibilities
  • Family Support and Case Management: Conduct needs assessments, set goals, and provide comprehensive support to kinship families, ensuring their well-being and helping them access necessary resources.
  • Licensure Process Support: Assist kinship families in completing the DCYF licensing process, including required trainings and paperwork, to help them become licensed foster caregivers.
  • Child Well-being and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of children in Amara-supported kinship homes, collaborating with various professionals in the child welfare field to address any concerns.
  • Community Engagement and Resource Connection: Facilitate kinship workshops and support groups, connect parents of youth in kinship care with necessary resources, and maintain accurate documentation and make referrals to community services.
  • Team Collaboration and Professional Development: Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices in child welfare and family support.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and two years of social service experience (or a master's degree and one year of experience) in a related field, such as child development, family systems, or social work.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse groups, strong organizational skills, and prior experience with the child welfare system (preferred).
  • Certifications and Requirements: Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, ability to pass a background check, current CPR/First Aid Certification, and vaccination requirements.
  • Language Proficiency: Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Benefits and Compensation

This is a full-time position offering an annual salary between $57,000 and $69,999, depending on experience. We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, a 401k with company match, paid leave, and a supportive work environment.
